Life tends to evolve in stages and I’m of the belief our homes follow suit. My clients, (empty nesters), had watched their children grow into young adults and they’d begun forming families of their own; moving to suburbs not far from one another. Though fond of their home, it was beginning to present not only a longer drive for family visits, the location of their bedroom and bath on an upper level had them pondering “right-sizing” and one-level living.
They decided to embark on a new-build with an open plan, which included the living, dining, and kitchen spaces, while the owner’s suite is conveniently located within a few steps. A cheerful color palette brings hues from their beach home, so they can enjoy a resort experience, while inland.
We shared a chuckle when we discovered this home is actually a little larger in square feet, but the space has been thoughtfully allocated for a party of two or a party for their family.
